Moon

Moonlight

Through the leaves and
trees – The cool full
moon does not shine on me
as I sit or maybe stand
by a faltering fire pit
A darkening bed of coals
grown old and cold as the
late September night
and the coals also
do not shine on
Through the leaves and
trees – the old and cold
darkening coals do not shine on
me as I stand or maybe
sit, back turned to fire pit
that is full like the cool moon

Little Pupper Toes

Here are some lyrics for song that is forth coming. I need to get time to record it — keep an eye out, I will post a link once it’s done. In meantime, bask in the cuteness.

Have you seen the pupper toes
Leavin tracks in the snow
Have you seen the pupper toes
Showin where the pupper goes?

Little pupper toes and little pupper legs
with round pupper bodies
and a pupper tail that wags
yeah little pupper toes
following a little pupper nose

Did you see the pupper run?
jumping around and havin fun?
Just a little pupper in the sun!
look at that silly pupper run!

Little pupper toes
and little pupper legs
with round pupper bodies
and a pupper tail that wags
yeah little pupper toes
following a little pupper nose

Watch the pupper chase the ball
that pupper can’t run at all
watch the clumsy pupper fall
that pupper is much too small

Little pupper toes
and little pupper legs
with round pupper bodies
and a pupper tail that wags
yeah little pupper toes
following a little pupper nose

Just a Quick Note from S1541

Hey all,

I know I have blasted out a bunch of poetry today and wanted to be sure I practiced full disclosure — some of the poems are complete re-writes of previous poems I have either posted here or on an old blog that I am not writing to anymore.

Many of my poems come to me quickly (between meetings at work, let’s say) and get them down as best I can and clear as I can.  Eventually I go back and re-read them and get the itch to change something — and the result is sometimes a whole new poem.  The entire meaning of the first poem is wiped away and something new springs forth — I have to publish this!  Yes!

So, sorry if you’ve read any of these before in different forms or similar, but brushed up, forms.  I am at least trying to add a new poem a day — or as close to daily as I can. 🙂 Follow through for me is a bit hard. 🙂

So, yeah — thank you!

Naked

As I leave therapy, the truck drives lightly
Past dark bare mid-fall trees between traffic
lanes standing strikingly proud at noon day
in the cool fall sun, there! a denuded maple,
leafless elm, two green pine, don’t look dead
dejected embarrassed for all foliage’s failings
in their apparently unabashed and full nudity

Rivers

Cold clean clear running rivulets
from the late spring snow storm
run a crooked cracked sidewalk line
merging, diverging and merging
around a discarded, wash-up bottle cap
a barren flat topped man-made island
Leaving curved etching in grains of sand
that tumble like boulders in glacial run off
collecting and creating countless drumlins
shovel loosed grass form dense archipelagos
just beneath an easy curbside waterfall
where a tributary runs joins a larger river
increasing in current and continues to widen
as it merges once again just before diverging
through a street-end stick/leaf clogged sluice
pouring into a yet larger river underground
flowing increasing with more and more streams
until after many days joining the violent currents
cold waters of upper Mississippi and flowing down
To the south, leaving the mouth to Gulf of Mexico
and the sea.

The First Line

A few words
caught in the white
of the screen
a trailing thought
“The winnowing whistle
of the winter of the wind”
or “Light licks it’s way
up the wall, spilled liquid”
phrases that tickle
or itch like a feather
poking through the down
warmth of a comforter.
